DO read the instructions thoroughly BEFORE attempting assembly. Putting this together by myself (single woman, 58 yrs old, experienced in putting together furniture like this) took me 5 hours; it would have taken half that time if someone had been helping me - reading next step of instructions, handing me the next group of screws/bolts or hardware, etc. All parts were present, all pre-drilled holes "matched up"; there were a LOT of screws & bolts, but the trays they came in were well organized - don't take them out of the trays until you need them! Once together, this is a VERY sturdy, fairly heavy desk; not "flimsy" or lightweight. I'm using it as a vanity table in my bedroom; I didn't put the back piece on (since I placed it underneath my window) so I'd have better light. The "keyboard" drawer is just the right size for my eye shadows, blush, mineral foundation, eyeliner, etc[...] Great price for what you end up with - well worth the time involved in the assembly process.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

When I received the desk, one of the knobs was broken. I filled ut the on-lineform and it was replaced immediately. However, this knob has already broken again.
