I have a standing desk, and my chair is too low. I wanted a stool that would be good for my lower back and after reading many reviews decided to get this one. Very good quality for the price, and feels very sturdy and durable. I no longer cross my legs when sitting. My chiropractor reports my lower back is looking better.

(As confirmed by manufacturer) the maximum seat height is unloaded. Anyone over 200 pounds can expect to compress seat 1.5". The heavier you are the more it will compress. So if you need 35" when seated, this will not work. Worse yet there is a large amount of slop in the piston as it moves in it's housing, the further out the piston (higher the seat) the more this slop is reflected in rocking of the seat itself which is annoying. The (friction lock) mechanism used to set the foot ring level needs to be totally redesigned as it slips down over time due to even minor downward pressure from your feet. Finally the seat material itself isn't great, needs redesigned padding. It's fine for short periods, i.e alternating 1/2 hr sitting, 1/2 standing but an hour of sitting will leave you with a sore behind.
BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The chair definitely helps my back. I can't use it all day, but I switch between my regular chair and this one. In time, when my muscles will get stronger I won't need to switch.
