I bought these to match the Country Cottage Desk. The bookcases were overly difficult to assemble because they were not well designed. It is not obvious from the photos that there is an ugly white plastic connector, visible from both sides, that joins the two pieces constructing the back. You couldn't just slide the backs into the grooves of the connector; it was too tight. We had to force each side into the connector and hope it lined up. Plus there were supposed to be 4 pre-drilled holes to attach the back to the bottom piece, which we had to do ourselves. This had to be done for both bookcases we purchased. After all that, the back is slightly warped, but there was no way we were going to attempt to fix it after struggling with the connector. It's not really noticeable once the books are on the shelves. Overall I'm not impressed with the fit and finish but they look OK and there wasn't any other choice if you have other pieces in this collection. It's a shame because the desk is such a nice piece and assembled in seconds. I'm much happier with the desk and definitely recommend it. The whitewash has a yellow cast but that doesn't bother me at all. The effect is office furniture that doesn't look like office furniture. CSNOfficeFurniture had the best price I could find for both.
