You shouldn't need to choose between a safe that adequately protects from fire or from intruders - Mesa Safe's burglary and fire resistant safes feature a composite design at an affordable price. Doors that are 3.5" thick with 1" wide defense barrier of outer and inner steel plates coupled with a one hour 350° F fire rating ensures that not only will your documents be insulated from fire but also from prying attacks from intruders.

Two hour fire rating at 350° F by U.L.
Tested in temperatures up to 1750° F
Fire gasket surrounds the entire door frame
3.75" thick door with 0.5" steel plate and 1" defense barrier of outer and inner steel plates creating a single structure enclosing a unique, high density burglary and fire resistant material
Defense barrier houses a proprietary amalgamation of nuggets and steel fibers to withstand concentrated attacks
2" thick body enclosing a unique design of burglary and fire resistant material with nuggets and steel fibers
One recessed anchor bolt hole provided to securely anchor safe
U.L. listed Group II 3 wheel key changable lock protected by a drill resistant hardplate
Three massive 1" diameter chrome plated steel live locking bolts lock deep into the body preventing door removal during a forced entry attempt
Spring loaded internal re-locking device providing a secondary line or defense

Fire Testing Procedures

Stage I: Heating Test
Safe is exposed to over 1000° C in an airtight gas furnace for 2 hours

Stage II: Drop Test
Immediately after the heating test
Red hot safe is lifted and dropped from a height of 30 feet (9.1 meters)

Stage III: Re-Heating Test
After the drop test the safe is reheated in the furnace at a mean temperature of 1090° C (2010° F) for an additional 45 minutes

Test Results
Besides the melting of some metal fittings on the external door, which had low melting points, the interior of the Mesa Safe remained intact
The internal temperature of the Mesa Safe was at 130° C (260° F), well below the paper tolerance level of 232° C (450° F)
