Spoke to rep about the finish before purchasing, asking if perhaps we needed to cover it for protection. Was advised that the finish was "scratch resistant" so that wouldn't be necessary. We purchased this table for our home office. We have 2 pre-teen children and 4 computers so thought this would be a beautiful yet useful addition to an office that we all share. The surface scratches so easily that we all found ourselves uncomfortable using the table for fear of ruining it. Perhaps it should be listed as a formal dining table (which would not be used very often) but this is no conference room/office table. We could have purchased something far less expensive yet more suitable for our needs.
