Assembly is a total pain in the rear, but final product well worth it. 3 key hints, though, while putting together. 1. Never put the Desk or Credenza on its side before you put the top on. The tops appear to be solid wood, however some is pressed wood. Brings down price, but makes assembly more difficult. Screws can strip wood if not careful. 2. If you buy the set, like I did, Do the Desk and Return together. Read the instructions for the return carefully and plan everything out before starting on the Desk and Return. You can have right or left return. If you assemble the desk first, the instructions do not tell you about the return and you have to take the desk apart to put the return on. Left return takes away locking of desk. Right return keeps locking of desk. Last, but not least, BE PATIENT!!! Take your time. If you work on it yourself and just get someone to help you where an assistant is needed, like I did, it will take 30-40 hours to put it together. If you take your time and follow the instructions, it makes it easier. This is a well designed set. There are holes for everything and the design is well engineered. Most everything fits together the way it should. If you take your time, it may take you a while to put it together, but you should have many, many years of use out of it.
